On the move!

So, 2 weeks ago Zoe started rolling over consistently. These days she’s crawling like crazy and pulling herself up to standing.

A night or two ago, Tish looked at me and said something to the effect of, “At least she still needs support to stand!” On hearing this, Zoe let go of her support and stood on her own (albeit for a split second) before falling down.

I now find myself caught in the tension of wanting to keep her safe, but not TOO safe, if you know what I mean. I want her to learn to fall and that it’s ok to fall, but I don’t want her to crack her head open.

I also find myself trying to toughen her up a bit… by hitting her with pillows, throwing socks at her and giving her the occasional nudge when she’s crawling. I hope this doesn’t make me a bad father. I think it’s rubbing off though, as she has taken to headbutting me in the chest at about 2am…
